Black Rising
Chapter 2 – Part 2
By: Kevin Adams & Steve Bolin

The wizard took the parchment and marched out of the meeting room with no further comments. Yadin found himself staring at an empty room, wondering what had happened. The itch in his hand subsided, but his head felt no better. His thoughts swirled like leaves in a spring breeze.

Why hadn’t he spoken his mind? Somehow, the wizard had maintained control from his entrance to his exit. Had strangers been present, they would’ve thought Merik the King and Yadin nothing but a servant. Why did his mind always seem so clouded whenever the wizard was near?

He was still staring blankly in the empty conference room when Libeth walked in. “Dear Husband, what are you doing? Come and have supper with me.”

Supper? Had he really been sitting here that long? It’d been hours since he’d eaten, but he didn’t feel a bit of hunger. Nevertheless, he let Libeth lead him to the dining room.

He went to bed later without touching his meal. Divine Creator, what was happening to him?
